Dear Friend of Rotary,
With Memorial Day behind us, it’s time to sign up for your next holiday run — the 2024 Rotary Club of Westerville Independence Day 5K Walk/Run! The 5K will again take place on July 4 at the Westerville Sports Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave.
Our 5K will begin and end at the beautiful new Westerville Veterans Memorial in the park, as the Rotary Club of Westerville again honors and benefits Veterans with this event. In 2023, we merged our former Vets 5K held in November with our Independence Day 5K – our original Walk/Run in the community. Different local Veterans groups are selected as beneficiaries each year; the 2024 beneficiary will be The Veterans First Initiative.
The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. with a presentation of colors by the Westerville VFW Honor Guard, performance of the National Anthem, and brief remarks from Dr. Will Moore, president of The Veterans First Initiative.
Then it’s time for our Kids Fun Run at 7:45! Our Kids Fun Run dashes for young children will take place at 7:45 a.m. – prior to the 5K, not after. The dashes are 100 yards for children 6 and under; 300 yards for those over 6.
Registration for the 5K is $40/$30 for Veterans, and Fun Run registration is $10 per child. Participants in the time-certified 5K receive a T-shirt featuring our awesome Westerville Independence Day logo — you can wear it with pride throughout the rest of Westerville’s Fourth of July celebration — and a great race medal that hangs from a patriotic ribbon. Fun Run participants receive the nifty medal. Packet-pickup will be prior to the event only, from noon-6 p.m. July 2 and July 3, at the Polaris Fleet Feet store, 1270 E Powell Rd, Lewis Center, OH 43035.
A full Westerville Independence Day
The race begins the Rotary Club of Westerville’s annual, day-long celebration of Independence Day:
- After the race, head over to our State Street Parade (County Line Road to Electric Avenue) at 10:30 a.m.
- Then spend some family time at home prior to returning to the Westerville Sports Complex for our Free Concert and Food Truck Festival, featuring Martini Affair and Long Play, from 5-9:45 p.m.
- And of course, the exclamation point on the day is our great Fireworks Display at 10 p.m. – and the Sports Complex is the best place to catch the show!
- And please patronize our 2024 Westerville Foundation 50/50 Raffle – either online now, or during the Free Concert & Food Truck Festival – to help raise funds for our high school scholarship and grants program. See more information below!

Tickets sales are UNDERWAY. Drawing at Free Concert Series July 4th, at 8:40 p.m. from the main stage, at the Westerville Sports Complex. Need not be present to win.
Again this year, we are conducting a 50/50 Raffle for the Rotary Club of Westerville Foundation, to help fund our local scholarships program and charitable grants.
The buyer of the winning ticket will receive half the pot, with the other half going to the Foundation. We hope to sell $10,000 worth of tickets — and offer a $5,000 payout, for both the raffle winner and the Foundation!
We have partnered this year with Zeffy to offer the 50/50 raffle digitally.
Scan the QR code below, or click on the Purchase Tickets link, to buy tickets.
The drawing will take place during our Free Concert Series July 4 at the Westerville Sports Complex. Ticket sales close at 8 p.m., and the drawing will be held at approximately 8:40 p.m. The winner need not be present for the drawing! The winner will be announced from the stage during a concert break, but contacted afterward for payment of their winnings if they are not present.
The Foundation facilitates charitable giving and projects by the club, including our annual college scholarship programs for high school graduates from Westerville, which has awarded more than $500,000 since 1964..
Please watch the accompanying video from Rotary Club of Westerville 2024-25 President Brandy Deichert, to learn more about how we spend charitable funds through our Westerville Rotary Foundation.
Good luck and we hope to see you at the concert July 4!
